An article by the CENTER Agency “Main Features of the Astrakhan Agglomeration” was published in the December issue of the information and political magazine of local self-government “Municipal Russia”.
In 2021 CENTER conducted a comprehensive assessment of the development potential of the region as part of preparation for the Open International Competition for the master plan for the Astrakhan agglomeration.
The article outlines the goals and objectives of the research, notes the characteristic features and problems of agglomeration, outlines the main conclusions about its development potential and describes possible scenarios for its spatial development.
Research materials consist of an assessment of the resource potential of the development, a conditional model of agglomeration, a list of strategic goals and systematized tasks of its development, including the urban development potential, proposed development scenarios and milestone indicators, which served as a basis for the Terms of Reference for a master plan within the Open International Competition.
