36 finalist teams of the Competition for Ecotourism Development presented their projects

On September 12-14, 2020, the final strategic session of Module 2 of the Acceleration Program of the All-Russian Competition for Tourism and Recreation Cluster (TRC) Development and Ecotourism Development was held at the media loft of the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration.

36 finalist teams from 32 regions, representing 97 local protected areas, presented their competition projects – master plan concepts for a Tourism and Recreation Cluster – to the members of the Competition Committee, Expert Group, mentors, representatives of the organizer and operator of the Competition.

More than 200 people came to Moscow from all regions of the country, almost 60 experts performed a preliminary examination of the finalist teams’ works, and more than 20,000 people from throughout Russia watched the performances live for three days.

Deputy Head of the Government Dmitry Chernyshenko and General Director of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, Svetlana Chupsheva, made an opening speech at the final strategic session.

The event timing was very strict: within 10 minutes, each team had to clearly and in detail present their project of a regional tourism and recreation cluster, reflecting not only a list of local attractions, but the essence of the proposed tourist product: goals and objectives, target audience, demonstration objects, financial component and even the amount of investment required and the payback period of the project.

Land of people, volcanoes and elks” TRC, “Volzhskoye Porechye” TRC, “Smolenskoye Poozerye. Headwaters of Russia” TRC, “Leopard’s Land” TREC, “Paustovsky” ETC, “Mighty Iremel” TRC, “Heart of Bashkiria” TRC, “Atmosphere. Steppe” TRC, “Gzhel Tier Ecosystem” TRC, “Virgin Forests of Komi” TRC, “Varangian Sea” TRC, “Khibiny – territory for everyone” TRC, “Muromsky Cluster” TRC, “Vysokogorsky” TRC, “Kama Outflow” TRC, “Kurdzhipsky” TRC.

Heads of regional authorities came to the presentation, and the head of Buryatia, Alexey Tsydenov, personally came to support the region’s project. Also, the teams were supported by celebrity ambassadors during the competition, as well as during the popular vote at the first stage. Some teams (Republics of Tatarstan, Bashkortostan and Buryatia) used national elements – gastronomy and musical groups – in the presentation of their projects.

10 winners of the Competition will be announced in a month. The final and announcement of the winners will take place on October 16 in one of the participating regions. Official Competition Website: www.priroda.life.

The competition is organized by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives and is supported by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic, and the Federal Agency for Tourism of the Russian Federation.
