The Third Biennale for Young Architects has been launched
On June 10, the Third Biennale for Young Architects was launched at the multimedia press center of the Russia Today news agency. During the press conference the topic of the Biennale, the terms of the competition, and goals and objectives to be achieved by the future participants were announced. The Biennale topic is “Working Space of the Future”. The finalists of the 2021 competition will have the ambitious task of designing versatile office spaces adaptable to any situation or challenge.

The urban development potential of the projects already existing in Russia covers over 200 million sq. m. All this requires modern design solutions. The young people who participate in this project should understand that they are in demand for the implementation of projects throughout the whole country.
“A very important aim is to rethink the spaces we live and work in. The workspace of the future does not just mean just an office. We are rather talking about different combinations of work, residential and public spaces that young architects will find optimal in today’s conditions,” explains architect Sergey Choban, curator and chairman of the jury of the Russian Architecture Biennale for Young Architects.
Of particular importance for the entries will be environmental friendliness, energy efficiency, climate neutrality, and as a consequence, the choice of materials and technologies.
Natalia Fishman-Bekmambetova, Director of the Biennale and Assistant to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, said that the Biennale will be held in Innopolis as usual. The jury will consist of world famous architects, international award winners, and founders and heads of bureaus: Asif Khan, Mascha Veech-Kosmatschof and Christoph Langhof, and winners of the previous Biennale – gold medalists Aleksandr Alyaev, Dmitry Prikhodko (Leto bureau) and silver medalists representing KB 11 and MEGABUDKA bureaus.
A real site in Kazan will be offered as the design object, allowing expression and testing of an architectural hypothesis that is as close as possible to existing conditions.
“I wish all future participants will attempt to create a project that is not just for a particular site, but to think more broadly,” advised Aleksandr Alyaev, gold medalist of the Russian Architecture Biennale for Young Architects.
