9 August, 2022

On August 3, the final meeting of the Jury of the International Competition for the Development of the Architectural Appearance of Ostrov Mechty and Zagorye Metro Stations was held.

The final Jury meeting was held at the Reserve Embassy of the Zaryadye Park. The Finalists of the competition presented their concepts and answered questions of the Jury. According to the results of the experts' voting, the Winners were chosen.

The Winners are:

  • the design project by TOTEMENT/PAPER (Moscow, Russia) for the Ostrov Mechty station;
  • the design project by UNK INTERIOR (Moscow, Russia) for the Zagorye station.

For the Dream Island station, it is planned to use metal cassettes, aluminum composite panels and polished Sanarsky and Tsvetok Urala granite. According to the plan of the specialists of TOTEMENT/PАPER LLC, the black and white patterns on the walls and ceiling of the platform hall will symbolize the connection of two worlds - earthly and underground, associated with images and myths of the ancient world.

The Zagorye station, as conceived by the architects of YNK Interior LLC, will be dedicated to the progress of Russian industry and the raw material wealth of the country. The main material that will be used in the decoration will be metal. The compositional center of the hall will be the element of the hole, associated with a sheet of rolled metal. By masking the support columns, it divides the station into two dependent spaces, which makes navigation much easier.

The best design projects were singled out using the following criteria: integration in the district heritage and location of the stations, compliance with the requirements for comfortable and safe movement for all passenger categories; economic feasibility and, of course, the possibility of their practical implementation considering the technical requirements of the Moscow Metro.

When considering the concepts, the Jury members also noted in the nomination Dream Island the project of the Architectural Studio of Alexei Ilyin, presented by its founder. Also in the nomination Zagorie –project by DDD Architects, which was presented by the chief architects of the projects, partners of the bureau Daria Semyonova, Danila Tsarkov and Daniil Gaidukevich.
