CENTER Agency will hold the All-Russian Conference for Small Towns and Historic Settlements

On October 5–7, 2018, in the town of Vyksa (Nizhny Novgorod region), the 1st All-Russian Conference devoted to the mechanisms of development of public spaces in small towns of the Russian Federation will be held. It is called "Revitalization of Small Towns Through Involvement of Local People into Cultural Practices".

The event is facilitated by OMK-Uchastie Charitable Fund and the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Utilities of the Russian Federation. The project is implemented with the use of the grant of the President of the Russian Federation for the civil society development provided by the Fund of Presidential Grants, with the support of the Government of Nizhny Novgorod region, Administration of the town of Vyksa, United Metallurgical Company, Fund of Single-Industry Cities and 8 Lines Project Group. Agency for Strategic Development CENTER acts as a program directorate of the event and is responsible for the project conceptual meaning.

The conference will become the first large all-Russian event attracting foreign participants upon the contest results. It will be devoted to the mechanisms of public space development. The event is aimed at promoting a priority creation of comfortable environment through complex coverage of the Russian and international practices:

  • demonstration of the best Russian examples of comfortable city environmental creation;
  • popularization of accessory design engineering as one of the most efficient tools for "re-loading" of problem cities;
  • study of the world trends adapted to the Russian conditions;
  • discussion of the most problem issues related to establishment of comfortable environmental in small towns, including specific problems related to historic settlements.

The conference will be attended by the leading Russian and foreign experts in the sphere of development of public spaces, evolution of single-industry cities, accessory design engineering, funding mechanisms, socio-cultural programming, as well as representatives of the executive bodies.
