The All-Russian competition for the creation of tourist-recreational clusters and the development of ecotourism in Russia will start on June, 16

On June 16, the online press conference will be held at TASS Information Agency on the launch of the country's first All-Russian competition for the creation of tourist-recreational clusters and the development of ecotourism in Russia, organized and initiated by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI), with the support of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the environment of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, and the Federal Agency for Tourism of the Russian Federation. The operator of the competition is the Agency for Strategic Development “CENTER”.

Today, the area of all specially protected natural territories (SPNTs) in Russia is 237.7 million hectares - this is approximately 13.9% of the territory of the Russian Federation, taking into account the marine area. Approximately 40% of the population of our country lives within a radius of 30 km from the nearest federal protected areas, and since 2018, the increase in visitors to natural territories has been increasing by 15% per year. In the framework of the National Project “Preservation of Biological Diversity and the Development of Ecological Tourism” for 2018-2024, Russia faces the task of increasing the number of visitors to protected areas to 10 million people.

The prospects for the development of ecological tourism in Russia, the objectives of the competition and its format will be discussed by the special representative of the President of the Russian Federation on environmental issues, ecology and transport, the chairman of the competition committee Sergei Ivanov, the head of the Federal Agency for Tourism of the Russian Federation Zarina Doguzova, general director of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) Svetlana Chupsheva and ASI Deputy General Director Olga Zakharova.
