Third Russian Youth Architecture Biennale extends applications deadline until August 22

The theme of the Third Biennale is the “Working Space of the Future”. Finalists of the 2021 competition will have the ambitious task of developing a new workplace philosophy, including an architectural concept, design solutions and user scenarios for a new workplace, which needs rethinking since the pandemic.

Participants in the Biennial are expected to provide architectural and design solutions to the issue of how to make the office function in as varied a way as possible, and how to design versatile office solutions that can be used in many locations. 

30 competitors will reach the competition final and have the opportunity to present their projects to the founders of the Biennial (Ministry of Construction and Housing and Utilities of the Russian Federation, Government of the Republic of Tatarstan), the architectural community, and mass media. In addition, finalists will be able to take part in an exhibition cycle with their project. Preliminary exhibition tour route: Innopolis, Kazan, Moscow. A foreign “tour” of the exhibition is also planned. And the winner of the Biennale will have the opportunity to continue working on their architectural solution at a real site.

“Stars” of the jury of Biennale include: Asif Khan, British architect, winner of the Grand Prix at Cannes Lions festival, Christoph Langhof, architect from Berlin, managing partner of LANGHOF, and Mascha Veech-Kosmatschof, architect from Vienna, founder of Veech X Veech GmbH architectural bureau. The chair of the jury and curator of the Biennale are Sergei Tchoban, head of SPEECH architectural bureau and Tchoban Voss Architekten.
