On January 18 at 11:00, a press conference devoted to the launch of the open nationwide competition for development an improvement concept for the territory of Victory Park in Murmansk will be held online.

The competition client is ANO “Murmansk Region Urban Development Center” with support from the Government of Murmansk Region. Agency CENTER is the operator of the competition.

The following have been invited to take part in the press conference:

  • Valentina Dotsnik, First Deputy Head of Murmansk City Administration
  • Victor Saygin, deputy of Murmansk Regional Duma
  • Svetlana Pionkovskaya, Chair of the City Planning Council of Murmansk City Administration
  • Aleksey Arushanyan, expert in architecture, graduate of the Architects.RF education program
  • Ketevan Khelaya, Co-founder, Executive Director of the Agency for Strategic Development CENTER

Aim of the Competition: selecting the best concept for the development of the territory of Victory Park.

Professional organizations in the field of architecture and design, landscape architecture, and concept development of public spaces, operating on the territory of the Russian Federation and able to attract specialists in the field of economics, finance, and content programming may participate in the competition.

As a reminder, the monument to Arctic Defenders in the Great Patriotic War, in the form of the Soviet soldier wearing a trench-coat, holding a machine gun, and watching the city and Kola Bay, was opened on October 19, 1974 to mark the 30th anniversary of the defeat of the German troops in the Arctic Region. The height of the soldier statue is 35.5 meters, and the total height of the memorial is 42 meters. Zeleny Mys hill, where the memorial is located, is 173 meters above the level of Kola Bay.
