Developers have changed their attitude toward cultural heritage sites - and this has become one of the key urban trends of the past year. More and more, developers are highlighting the importance of historic buildings within integrated development projects and demonstrating through real examples how this approach works in practice.
In an article by Business FM, Sergei Georgievskii, Co-founder of the Agency for Strategic Development “CENTER,” notes: “Whereas in the past the adaptive reuse of cultural heritage sites was generally seen by business as something not particularly promising, even somewhat marginal, by 2025 the situation has completely changed. We are now seeing successful cases that companies are eager to share.”
The Heritage Economy forum, held in January in the Kaliningrad Region, clearly showed that developers’ attitudes toward historical heritage have reached a new level. “Developers are integrating historic buildings into the life of the city, giving them new functions,” the expert comments. This helps preserve the memory of the past and brings historic places back into public relevance.
