Today’s urban district is no longer just a collection of residential buildings - it is a fully integrated living environment. The latest episode of the program “My District - A Place to Meet” illustrates this shift through the example of Novogireevo, where the renewal of the built environment is reshaping everyday urban life.

The program places particular emphasis on the quality of the urban environment - car-free courtyards, green spaces, and access to schools, healthcare facilities and transport. Yet the critical factor is not infrastructure itself, but how it influences behavior.

According to Yulia, Head of the Analytical Group at the Agency for strategic development "CENTER", a clear shift has taken place in recent years: the share of residents who did not spend any time outdoors in their own neighborhood has dropped from 28% to 5%. This is a direct indicator that the urban environment is beginning to function as intended.

Novogireevo reflects a broader trend - the emergence of a “city within walking distance,” where essential functions are concentrated close to home. Residents no longer need to travel far to access basic comfort - it is becoming embedded in everyday life.
