Sergei Georgievskii Joins the Expert Panel on Sustainable Development of Monotowns

Sergei Georgievskii, CEO of Agency for Strategic Development CENTER, has become one of the members of the Expert Panel on Sustainable Development of Monotowns under the State Duma Committee for Economic Policy, Industry, Innovative Development, and Entrepreneurship.

During the July 18 meeting, the panel reviewed a draft of the Monotowns Development state program, which is currently under development upon the Government instruction.

The goal of the new program is to ensure a stable grown of monotowns by making it possible to diversify the local economy and decrease the town’s dependence on its township-forming enterprise. The draft dictates that responsible persons are to create new permanent workplaces, increase volume of investments in monotowns, and ensure that the number of locals satisfied with the social and economic environment keeps growing.

Alfiya Kogogina, Deputy Chairwoman of the Committee for Economic Policy, Industry, Innovative Development, and Entrepreneurship and head of the Expert Panel, the draft has gained much critical feedback, which must be taken into account when working further on it. She firmly states that “we are currently engaged in constructive dialog with the Russian Government, and most of the ideas that we put forward at the State Duma are heard and appreciated by the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation”.

Other members of the Expert Panel include: Vadim Zhivulin, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation; Alexander Braverman, CEO and Chairman of the Board at the SME Corporation; Irina Makieva, Deputy Head of VEB (Vnesheconombank), General Director of the MONOGORODA.RF Non-Profit Organization; various deputies of the State Duma; as well as heads of Russian monotowns, representatives of federal executive authorities, holdings, state corporations, and expert-analytical and research organizations.
