27 July, 2021

Evgeny BorzenkoHead of Kola Division of Norilsk Nickel Mining and Metallurgical Company PJSC, CEO of Kola Mining and Metallurgical Company JSC

The need to attract highly professional staff and the issue that the free housing market in the town is almost exhausted led us to the decision to build a microdistrict in Monchegorsk. The location of the district has already been determined. It is important that this microdistrict would be comfortable and beautiful. By setting new standards of comfort and coziness for the residents, it may become a driver for the territory’s development, and some kind of symbol of the renewed Monchegorsk.

Professional organizations in the field of integrated development of territories, architecture, design, concept development of public spaces and master planning that operate in Russia and are able to attract specialists in the field of economics, finance and content programming may take part in the Nationwide Competition. Participants must propose their solutions for making the neighborhood more attractive to live in and improving the existing area.

Victor SadchikovHead of Monchegorsk City Administration

Implementation of this project is of great interest and importance to us. Development of housing construction in the town speaks of the prospects of its growth, an influx of new people, and modernization of services, as well as providing places in pre-schools and schools and the expansion of sports. The competition will indeed be significant and demonstrative for the town and Murmansk Region as a whole. I am certain that the town’s name will resound not only at the Murmansk Region level, but all over the country, as there are few projects like this.

The jury will consist of representatives of the client, executive authorities of Murmansk Region, and Russian experts in urban planning and architecture.

To participate, please complete an application on the official website of the competition at http://monchegorsk-life.ru/ no later than August 25.

At the end of the selection stage, three finalists will be chosen, based on their relevant portfolios and essays, who will develop competitive proposals for the concept of the microdistrict.

The winner will be announced on December 2 after the Jury meeting.

The total prize fund for the competition is 7,250,000 rubles.
