Today, on the First Monday of July, We Celebrate Architect’s Day for the First Time!

7 July, 2025

Architect’s Day was officially added to the calendar of Russian professional holidays only a few months ago. However, its roots go back to the reign of Catherine the Great. It is believed that the Empress, recognizing the importance of proper city and building design, issued a decree that construction should begin with the development of standard projects and master plans.

Modern architects have far more responsibilities: they shape the face of cities, develop innovative solutions, are responsible for infrastructure and creating a comfortable urban environment, and their professional decisions can boost the economies of entire regions. Yet, while striving to achieve significant quantitative results, professionals in architecture, construction, and design do not neglect high quality and aesthetics—creating some of the longest-lasting works of art.

Architect’s Day is recognition of the profession’s special importance in transforming cities and advancing the country as a whole.
