27 August, 2025

Post-project research of public spaces involves analyzing implemented projects and achieved results. Such research helps assess the urban planning, economic, social, and managerial effects of development programs, and determine whether their goals have been met or if approaches to urban development should be adjusted.

Experts discussed post-project research in urban transformation at the 10th All-Russian Forum “Development of Small Towns and Historical Settlements in Kazan. Sergei Georgievskii, co-founder of the “CENTER” Agency, introduced the audience to post-project studies of public spaces and reorganized industrial zones conducted by CENTER.

“CENTER” has been consistently researching the reorganization and development of Moscow’s industrial zones. In 2018, they prepared the study “MOSCOW RE:INDUSTRIAL” — an analysis of the typology of industrial territories and best practices in redevelopment. Three years later, “CENTER” implemented the project “INDUSTRIAL QUARTERS”, focusing on the development of former industrial areas of the capital, and this year completed the analytical work “MOSCOW RE:INDUSTRIAL 2.0” on key trends in the development of Moscow’s industrial territories.

Currently, “CENTER” is also completing the second study of the government program “My District”. “Its goal is to evaluate the effectiveness of public spaces created under the program in 13 Moscow districts based on field inspections, sociological surveys, and expert assessments,” emphasized the expert.

Sergei Georgievskii also spoke about studying the features of urban environments in the Far North, reflected in the analytical work “Public Spaces of Northern Cities.”
