International Forum “UrbanWay” in Vladivostok: Master Planning as the Key to Developing Russian Cities
On Thursday, October 9, the International Urban Forum UrbanWay will commence in Vladivostok, with one of its key themes being the development of master planning practices for urban territories.
The “CENTER” Agency, as a strategic partner of the forum, organized the master planning block. Five dedicated sessions will cover all current issues of territorial development in both Primorye and the wider Russian Far East, showcase best practices in creating and implementing master plans, and explore future directions for this strategic planning tool.
The forum will bring together experts in urban planning, architecture, development, and research. Topics include territorial development, public space improvement, engineering solutions, and the restoration and preservation of cultural heritage sites.

The Russian Far East was the first region in Russia to implement a large-scale program of urban master planning. Projects developed by the best professional teams have set new standards for spatial development and revealed unique territorial development opportunities. This experience can and should become a valuable resource for improving master planning practices across Russia.
The forum will run until October 11, after which concrete recommendations for improving master planning efficiency will be submitted to the relevant federal authorities.
