Aspiring architects studied the first module of an educational program implemented by the CENTER Agency for Strategic Development in collaboration with the M.A.M Architectural Workshop. Over the course of the semester, students explored the specifics of designing parking and garage complexes and, by the end of the program, proposed their own solutions for accommodating private vehicles near various social facilities.

The CENTER Agency invited students to develop a transport interchange hub project in Sergiev Posad, taking into account the city’s approved development strategy. Prior to the design phase, lead analyst Yulia Vedenina provided an introductory briefing, outlined the context, and explained the key objectives for the development of the transport hub.

“While working on their projects, the students immersed themselves deeply in the spatial development context of Sergiev Posad, going beyond the design of a purely utilitarian facility. It is especially valuable that they perceived the transport hub area as a multifunctional urban ‘core’ that supports the restoration of unity between the city and the Lavra. They competently addressed the separation of pedestrian and transport flows and proposed compelling architectural solutions,” noted Yulia Vedenina. “I would also highlight the creative approach to multi-level parking structures near railway stations and solutions for Stalin-era courtyards: the students demonstrated how a garage can become a useful public space with a social function for residents.”

The joint educational initiative of CENTER and M.A.M enables students of the Moscow Architectural Institute to gain hands-on experience in designing real urban environments. Guided by experienced mentors, they conduct site studies, attend lectures, develop project proposals, and ultimately present and defend their work before invited professionals.
