The organizers of the First National Far Eastern Architecture Awards held the second webinar for participants. The online consultation was organized for those who were unable to join the first meeting on August 6 or needed further clarification.
The webinar featured experts from the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation, the initiator and founder of the Awards, and the Agency for Strategic Development “CENTER”, the Awards operator.
Ayuna Tsyrenzhapova, Head of Urban Environment Development at the Territorial Development Department of the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation, highlighted the goals of the Awards: “We can now see how cities across the Far East are being transformed as master plans are implemented. The third year of their implementation demonstrates the enormous scale of change: 90 schools, 15 clinics and hospitals, and 60 residential complexes have been built or reconstructed, while four airport terminals have been commissioned. The idea behind the Awards is to showcase these achievements to the entire country and recognize the teams behind the best projects.”
During the webinar, the speakers provided a detailed overview of the key topics:
Sergey Georgievskii, Co-Founder of the Agency for Strategic Development “CENTER”, spoke about the Awards’ business program, which will precede the awards ceremony: “The program includes an exhibition of the finalists’ projects, a case study session on creating successful public spaces, panel discussions on tourism development in the Far East and the infrastructure of tomorrow, and an expert discussion on how architecture is transforming the cultural landscape of cities. There will also be a small surprise — a lecture by a star speaker. We are not revealing who it is yet, to keep the intrigue alive.”
Ilya Smirnov, Lead Project Analyst, explained what the jury will take into account when evaluating applications: “The first criterion is the project’s conceptual originality. This assesses the degree of innovation, the uniqueness of the approach, and the ability to offer fresh ideas. The second criterion is relevance to regional specifics. Here, we will consider whether the project takes into account the region’s climatic conditions, local traditions, culture and history, as well as the preservation of natural landscapes and cultural heritage.”
In total, the jury will evaluate applications according to eight criteria, including economic feasibility and the level of detail of the proposed design solutions.
The Q&A session also covered topics such as the format and content of participants’ presentations, as well as legal matters related to participation in the Awards.
