Applications have closed for the 1st DalArch National Far Eastern Architecture Award. A total of 321 projects from all 11 regions of the Russian Far East have been submitted for consideration. Of these, 156 are completed projects and 165 are yet to be implemented.
The top three regions by number of submissions are the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) with 81 applications, Primorsky Krai with 78, and the Republic of Buryatia with 46.
All regions of the Russian Far East are represented in the application campaign. Behind these figures, however, are vastly different conditions and challenges: major cities and small settlements, northern climates and coastal territories, dense urban development and areas that have yet to become part of a new urban environment.
The Award features a total of nine categories. The most popular was “Best Public Space”, which received 85 applications. Another 56 projects were submitted in the social infrastructure category. These include, for example, the Kaskad School in Khabarovsk Krai, the Fleet Oceanarium Museum in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, and other projects designed around the everyday lives and needs of local residents.
Another major group of submissions comprises projects intended to shape the development of territories for years to come. A total of 43 projects are competing for the title of Best City Master Plan, while 34 projects have been submitted in the Best Tourism Infrastructure Facility category.
“When you receive this many applications, one thing becomes clear: architectural life in the Russian Far East does not merely exist — it is thriving. Every project and every application represents years of someone’s work and a belief that the space around us can be better. The Award is becoming more than just a competition; it is turning into a focal point for everything happening in regional architecture. It gives a voice to those who usually remain behind the scenes of sketches, drawings and cost estimates. The more applications we receive, the louder that voice becomes,” said Sergey Georgievsky, co-founder of the CENTER Agency for Strategic Development, the Award’s operator.
The next stage is the Award jury vote, which will determine the finalists — the TOP 5 submissions in each category. The results of this vote will be announced in early October. A second jury meeting will take place at the end of October to select the winners, with the finalists presenting their projects in person.
The final results of the Award will be announced in Yakutsk on December 2, 2026.
