A First for ARCH Moscow — CENTER Launches a Study Covering 600 Industrial Cities

26 May, 2026

The Agency for strategic development "CENTER" will present its largest analytical initiative to date: the launch of the study “New Life for Industrial Cities,” covering 600 cities and towns across Russia. The presentation will form part of the business program of the ARCH Moscow exhibition and forum. The session will take place on May 28 at Gostiny Dvor (ART Laboratory lecture hall) and will begin at 3:30 p.m.

Russian cities are facing a new development trend. While the role of industry had previously been declining, recent years have seen manufacturing return to the center of economic and spatial development agendas. The discussion “New Life for Industrial Cities” will explore where factory- and industry-dependent cities are heading, how large businesses are reshaping local environments, and what strategies can ensure sustainable and balanced long-term growth.

Among the invited experts are:

  • Kseniya Titova — Executive Director, “VEB Assets: New Solutions,” VEB.RF
  • Kseniya Golubeva — Head of Project Department, DOM.RF Foundation
  • Pavel Stepantsov — Co-founder, Synopsis Group research agency
  • Alexander Eliseev — Deputy Director, Monchegorsk Development Agency
  • Igor Ponomaryov — Director, Vyksa Development Agency
  • Tatyana Zhuravleva — CEO, Melnichenko Foundation; Director for HR and Social Policy, AIM Management
  • Ilya Smirnov — Head of Analytics, LLC "CENTER LAB"

The session will be moderated by Olga Gritsan, Head of Analytics at the Agency for strategic development "CENTER".

The goal of the study is to create a typology of industrial cities that will serve as the basis for practical recommendations — including how to retain residents, improve the urban environment, and define future economic growth vectors.
