"THE EXPERIENCE OF OTHER MEGACITIES SHOWS THAT THE ZONE NEAR THE RIVER SHOULD SERVE IN FIRST TIME TO PEDESTRIANS, TO BE AVAILABLE FOR WALKING, FOR REST. IN MOSCOW WE HAVE ROADS ALONG THE EMBANKED AND ACCESS TO THE RIVER IS NOT AVAILABLE ".
Sergey KuznetsovChief Architect of Moscow
"I WANT TO SAY THAT IS THE LARGEST COMPETITION, BECAUSE THE PROJECT COVERS MORE THAN THOUSAND HA, ABOUT 10% FROM THE WHOLE TERRITORY OF OLD MOSCOW. FOR PARTICIPATION, THE BEST URBAN PLANNERS WAS INVITED, THANKS TO THEM WE RECEIVED A BASE OF IDEAS UNDECLARED FOR FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF THE CITY ".
The concept solves 5 problems of territories along the Moscow River:
The partner of the project is the landscape office Turenscape is the largest Chinese bureau, specializing in the creation of eco-sustainable landscapes and entire eco-cities.
Key elements of the concept:
Development of the Stroginskaya floodplain: the creation of recreational spaces under the open sky, designed for daily active recreation, the development of a cultural program, saturated with a variety of activities near the water.
The development of the Big City (the financial center of Moscow): the creation of the Moscow Soho, which can turn into a vibrant business district. Redirecting the traffic flow in order to turn the Krasnopresnenskaya embankment into a pedestrian zone. Development of "dynamic platforms", which will help increase activity on the banks of the river.
The development of the Technopolis on the territory of ZIL: the transformation of the territory from an industrial wasteland into a green zone, the construction of high-quality green spaces and sculptural corridors that will join existing urban structures through the restoration of land through phyto recultivation and water purification. The transformation of this territory into a "Living Machine" and "Art Farm" with preservation of the ecological cleanliness of the site.
