Kangalassy 2.0. Development strategy and the “road map” of the territory

20 July – 3 September 2018
Yakutsk, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)

The consortium as part of the Knight Frank international consulting company and the Agency for Strategic Development CENTER are implementing a new ambitious project in the capital of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The companies have combined unique experience and knowledge in the development of a strategy for the comprehensive development of the Kangalassy microregion, part of the urban district of Yakutsk, which should become an example for the implementation of a creative economy model in the republic.
The development strategy for the Kangalassy 2.0 area is aimed at implementation of a unique project – an exemplary northern settlement that is economically effective and socially successful. The territory should unite the production block, the creative and educational component, and create a new model for development of the urban environment on “smart city” principles. The project envisages an environmentally sensitive component that reveals the potential of a unique northern natural complex. The cluster strategy envisages expansion of Asia-Pacific cooperation and the establishment of stable ties with Japan, China, South Korea and Singapore.
The project includes the creation of conditions for stable improvement of quality and standards of living for the population of the Kangalassy area of the city of Yakutsk and a scenario for its long-term development in a cluster format. The project is aimed at improving the competitiveness of the areas, the emergence of new promising business projects and production in the Sakha Republic, as well as effective implementation of intellectual and creative potential of the population.

The concept of development of the Kangalassy 2.0 area will be presented at the Fourth East Economic Forum, which will be held in Vladivostok, on September 11-13, 2018.
